Ubersuggest alternatives, including free ones (2026)
The short answer: Ubersuggest is already one of the cheapest keyword suites, so most alternatives cost more, not less. For free, Google Keyword Planner, or the free plans from Semrush and Ahrefs. For volume in your browser for less, Keywords Everywhere. For the same job, Mangools; for more room, SE Ranking; for the most data, Semrush or Ahrefs. If keyword research is only the first step and you need the content that comes after it, that is what AltoRank does. Eight tools below, each with its price and the job it wins.

Why people look for an Ubersuggest alternative
Rarely because of price. At €29 a month, or a lifetime licence from €290, Ubersuggest is near the bottom of the market. It now also tracks a handful of AI prompts per brand and writes a few AI articles a month on every plan.
The usual reasons are limits and depth. Individual covers one project, 125 tracked keywords updated weekly, 150 searches a day and 1,000 pages per site audit. Agencies and larger sites outgrow that quickly, and the step up is to a suite with more data behind it.
The other reason is that the keyword list was never the goal. If what you need is the content the research points to, a lookup tool of any size leaves the writing to you.
The eight alternatives
1. AltoRank: when keywords are a means to content
Ours, and not a keyword tool in Ubersuggest's sense, so read the rest before weighing it. AltoRank researches the questions a site's buyers search, then drafts the article in the site's voice with sources attached and holds it for a person to approve before it publishes. You do not get a lookup box, a site audit or a rank tracker to browse, and its AI-mention tracker is built but not yet switched on. Open source under AGPL-3.0, free to self-host, €69/mo managed for 100 articles. Pick it if the keyword list was only ever the start of the job.
2. Google Keyword Planner: free, from the source
Google's own tool for finding keywords and estimating their searches and cost, built for advertisers. It is free, but Google Ads Help says you must complete account setup, including billing information, to use even the basic "Get ideas for new keywords" feature. Read from support.google.com on 30 September 2026. No rank tracking and no site audit; pair it with Google Search Console, which is also free, for the keywords you already rank for.
3. Keywords Everywhere: volume in your browser
A browser extension that shows search volume, CPC and trend next to Google results, billed on credits. Bronze $84/yr for 100,000 credits and 1 seat, Silver $168/yr for 400,000 and 3 seats, Gold $480/yr for 2 million and 10 seats, Platinum $1,440/yr for 8 million and 20 seats; one credit buys the metrics for one keyword. The REST API and an MCP server share the same credits. Read from keywordseverywhere.com/compare-plans on 25 September 2026. The cheapest paid way on this page to see volume while you work.
4. Mangools: the like-for-like
Keyword research, SERP checks, rank tracking, backlinks and site metrics, with an API, an MCP server and AI prompt monitoring on every plan. Basic €37.70/mo billed yearly for 100 lookups a day and 200 tracked keywords, Premium €52.70, Agency €97.70; a 48-hour money-back guarantee instead of a trial. Read from mangools.com on 25 September 2026. It has its own roundup of alternatives.
5. SE Ranking: more room at a mid-range price
The natural step up. Core €87.20/mo billed yearly for 10 projects, 1 seat, 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts tracked daily, and 250,000 audited pages a month; Growth €188/mo for 30 projects, 3 seats, 5,000 keywords and 250 prompts. Month to month those are €109 and €235. A 14-day trial. Read from seranking.com/pricing on 25 September 2026.
6. Semrush: the broadest suite
The most complete toolset here, and priced accordingly. On 25 September 2026 semrush.com/prices showed four paid tiers from €112.52 to €436.99 a month, marked as discounted from €134 to €526, with 500 to 5,000 keywords tracked daily, plus a free plan with one demo project. The usual destination when Ubersuggest's data runs out. See the Semrush alternatives.
7. Ahrefs: backlinks and crawl scale
Known for backlink data, with what it calls the world's second-most active crawler. Lite €119/mo (€99 billed yearly) for 5 projects, 750 tracked keywords and 1 user; Standard €229 (€191) for 20 projects; Advanced €419 (€349) for 50. A Starter plan at €27/mo and Ahrefs Free sit below. Read from ahrefs.com/pricing on 30 September 2026. It has its own roundup of alternatives.
8. Morningscore: easy, with ChatGPT rankings
Pitches itself as a simple all-in-one, ranks for "Ubersuggest alternative" itself, and tracks rankings in ChatGPT as well as Google. Lite $69/mo for 3 websites and 100 daily tracked keywords, Business $99/mo for 10 and 500, Pro $159/mo for 30 and 2,000, Premium $299/mo for 100 and 5,000. A 14-day free trial with no card. Read from morningscore.io/pricing on 25 September 2026.

Common questions
What is the best Ubersuggest alternative?
For the same job at a similar price, Mangools. For search volume in front of you while you browse, Keywords Everywhere. For more room, SE Ranking. For the most data, Semrush or Ahrefs, at a much higher price. If keyword research is only the first step and what you need is the content, AltoRank does the research, drafts the article and holds it for your approval.
Is there a free alternative to Ubersuggest?
Yes, several, each with a catch. Google Keyword Planner is free, but Google Ads Help says you must finish account setup, including billing details, to use it. Semrush has a free plan with one demo project, Ahrefs has Ahrefs Free, and Keywords Everywhere gives a free API key and free tools. Ubersuggest itself offers a one-time 7-day free trial on monthly plans, read from its pricing page on 30 September 2026.
How much does Ubersuggest cost?
Read from app.neilpatel.com/en/pricing on 30 September 2026, in euros: Individual €29/mo, Business €49/mo and Enterprise €99/mo on monthly billing, with a one-time 7-day free trial. Yearly billing was on a countdown promotion that day, "5 months free", at €192, €326 and €657 a year. Does Ubersuggest track AI search?
Yes. Every plan now tracks a set of AI prompts per brand: 10 a month on Individual, 15 every two weeks on Business and 20 a week on Enterprise, with ChatGPT and Gemini on the lower tiers and Google AI Overviews added on Enterprise. Each plan also writes a few AI articles a month, from 2 on Individual to 10 on Enterprise.
Is AltoRank a keyword research tool like Ubersuggest?
Not in the same way. Ubersuggest is built to look up keywords, audit a site and track rankings; AltoRank researches keywords as the first step of producing content for a site, then drafts and publishes with a person approving each piece. If looking up keywords is the whole job, Ubersuggest or one of the tools above is the better fit, and cheaper.
Is AltoRank really open source?
Yes, AGPL-3.0, covering the whole product. There is no ee/ directory and no tier held back from the source. The repository is public at github.com/AltoRank/altorank and the MCP server is in the official registry as co.altorank/altorank.
See your site the way an assistant does
Keywords only matter once a page can be read. The free check reads your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt and tells you, line by line, what is missing.
Nine checks on the homepage, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt. No account, no email gate, and a link you can share. The scoring is in the open-source code, so it can be read rather than trusted.
