Website worth calculator: what a site's search traffic would cost as ads.
Enter a domain and get an estimated monthly traffic value: the site's modelled organic traffic multiplied by the cost per click of the keywords it ranks for, from DataForSEO data. That is what the traffic would cost to buy as ads. It is not a valuation of the business and not what the site would sell for.

Website traffic value estimator
Runs on our server using DataForSEO search data. We count runs and never save what you enter; an identical request may be answered from memory for up to five minutes.
What you can do with it
- Put a rough ad-cost figure on what organic search is doing for a site
- Compare the search footprint of two competitors on the same scale
- Explain to a client why ranking for commercial keywords is worth more than raw visits
- Sanity-check a site you are researching before you look at its real numbers
How it works, step by step
- 1
Understand the formula
For each keyword a site ranks for, a model estimates the monthly visits from its position and the keyword's search volume. Each estimate is multiplied by that keyword's cost per click, and the results are added up. The total is what those visits would cost as paid search clicks.
- 2
Look at what drives the number
A few high-CPC commercial keywords can outweigh thousands of informational ones. A high value with modest traffic means the site ranks for keywords advertisers pay for; high traffic with a low value means mostly informational searches.
- 3
Compare sites on the same tool
Because every input is modelled, the figure is most useful as a comparison: two competitors, or one site before and after a content push, measured the same way.
- 4
Do not use it as a sale price
If you are buying or selling a site, work from verified revenue, profit, traffic analytics and the trend over time. A traffic value estimate can be one line in that conversation, never the answer.
What traffic value measures
Traffic value answers one question: if this site had to pay for its organic search visits as ads, what would that cost each month? It is calculated from the outside, with no access to the site’s analytics. A model estimates how many visits each ranking keyword brings, multiplies that by the keyword’s cost per click, and adds everything up.
That makes it a useful way to put different sites on the same scale. It also shows something raw traffic hides: a visit from someone searching a commercial keyword is worth more to advertisers than a visit from someone looking up a definition.
What it does not measure
It is not a business valuation. A website’s sale price depends on things no search data can see:
- Revenue and profit, verified from the books and payment accounts.
- How stable they are, over months and years, and how much depends on one channel.
- Costs and effort to keep the site running.
- Assets beyond search: an email list, customers, a brand people type in directly.
Buyers value sites on those. Two sites with the same traffic value can differ enormously in what they earn, because one sells something and the other does not. Use this figure as context, never as a price.
Why the figure is an estimate
Every input is modelled. Search volume is an estimated monthly average. The share of clicks a position gets is a model, and real click-through rates vary with the result layout, ads and AI answers on the page. Cost per click is an average across advertisers and changes with competition. Multiplying estimates together compounds their errors.
The honest way to use it is as a comparison: this site against a competitor, or this site now against the same site after six months of work, measured by the same tool. For your own site, the real clicks and queries in Google Search Console are always better evidence.
Raising the number the right way
Traffic value goes up when a site ranks for more keywords that buyers search for. The route there is content that answers those searches well, pages that match intent, and links earned from relevant sites. The keyword research tool shows the cost per click behind a keyword before you write for it.
Where AltoRank fits
For your own domain, the free growth plan shows what it ranks for and the keywords within reach. AltoRank plans and drafts content toward them every week, and a person approves each piece before it publishes.
Frequently asked questions
Is this what my website is worth?
No. It is an estimate of what the site's organic search traffic would cost if you bought the same visits as ads: modelled traffic multiplied by cost per click. It says nothing about revenue, profit, brand, customers or what a buyer would pay. Sites are bought and sold on verified revenue and profit, not on this figure.
How is the number calculated?
DataForSEO models the organic traffic a domain gets from the keywords it ranks for, based on estimated search volume and ranking position. Each keyword's traffic is multiplied by its cost per click, and the results are summed into a monthly figure. Our server fetches that and shows it to you.
How accurate is it?
It is a stack of estimates: modelled search volume, a modelled click share for each position, and average cost per click. Each can be off, and the errors compound. Treat the result as an order of magnitude and compare sites measured the same way, rather than trusting any single figure.
Why is the value high but my traffic low, or the other way round?
Cost per click varies widely between keywords. A site that ranks for a few terms advertisers compete for can show a high value with little traffic. A site with lots of informational traffic, where ads are cheap or rare, can show a low value despite many visits.
Does it store the domain I check?
No. The query goes through our server to DataForSEO for the traffic and keyword data, the result comes back to your browser, and we keep only a count of how many times the tool ran that day. There is a daily usage limit so it can stay free without a signup.
Why does it not match my analytics?
Your analytics and Google Search Console measure real visits and clicks. This tool models organic search traffic from outside, without access to your data. Your own numbers win whenever they disagree.
